I think I might be pregnant and want to take a test but if I am, I'm within a week of conception and my period just ended before I would have conceived. So my questions is, do I wait a month (until I'm due for my period again) or can I take a home test much sooner?a month is rounding, it's more like 3 weeks or less until my next cycle

Maybe three days before you think your period is due at earliest. I was test happy and took a test on Friday and it was negative and then again on Sunday and is was positive. You will waste a lot of money on test, like me so I would suggest just waiting it out.

It's too soon. It takes 6-10 days after conception for an embryo to travel to the uterus and implant itself in the lining, and only AFTER implantation does it start to produce HCG (the hormone that pregnancy tests detect), and even then it takes days or even weeks for the HCG levels to rise to a point where the excess is excreted in your urine. For reliable results, you need to wait 2 weeks after you think you may have conceived to take a test, and even then some women don't get a positive even though they are pregnant. Good luck.
