I've heard that in the long succession of coaches we've burned through that what makes them all quit is William Clay Ford forcing play calls in the middle of the game. This is why we get the ludicrous calls like end around runs in the red zone. It also explains the incredible amount of resigned former coaches. I used to think that Ford used the Lions for a tax write off but now since their cars aren't selling so good this new concept really makes sense. What in the world can we, the fans do?

Well, actually, there has only been 3 coaches that resigned since 1964, considering there have been a total of 14 coaches, that not THAT many, and each had their reasons, none of which had to do with WCF. While the Lions have floundered for decades, it NOT due the medling of the owner, in fact, just the opposite. He is TOO hands off and despises confrontations. He hires people and lets them do the job, and hates to fire people when they fail. His problem is that he makes poor choices in the people that he hires, then won't fire them. He has never had the reputation of a owner that interferes with the team operations, I think your confusing him with Al Davis
Detroit fans and media are brutal, not NYC brutal- but close. and the coaches that resigned could no longer take the losing team combined with the meia/fan assults |

As a Lions fan, I suppose you could protest. Boycott the games, or come to the game wearing a paper bag like the Browns fans used to do. Write letters to the front office. It might not do any good, but at least your are being a true fan and making a statement.
